Alla auktioner / Mattor & Textilier / Antique Kuba Rug, Northeast Caucasus, late 19th century - 4 ft 9 in
Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique Kuba Rug, Northeast Caucasus, late 19th century Size: 4 ft 9 in x 3 ft 6 in (1.44 m x 1.06 m) Provenance: Property of New York Collector A compact antique Kuba rug reflecting the finely articulated drawing and disciplined construction associated with the northeast Caucasus. Kuba weavers developed an extraordinary variety of designs, ranging from geometric medallions and floral lattices to stylized animals and dense repeating devices. Compared with the heavier drawing of many Kazak rugs, Kuba examples are often more finely woven and intricately patterned. Its small scale makes this an appealing collector’s rug and an excellent candidate for wall display. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #472 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even, with no visible signs of wear. Both ends are complete and hand-secured with original kilims, and the sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. The rug is clean and floor-ready. Please contact our rug experts at auction@nazmiyal.com or call us for any questions you may have at 212.545.8029. Please note that all lots are sold "AS IS. " Condition reports are given as a courtesy to our clients and shall not be deemed as a guarantee of the lot's condition, quality, and authenticity. The absence of a condition report does not imply the item is in perfect condition.
