Art Deco Bijzettafel - Magazine rack - Oak - Rare design

Art Deco oak side table / magazine rack with curved backrest, 1920-1930, rare design DESCRIPTION A special find: a sculptural occasional table with an integrated magazine rack, expertly crafted from solid oak. During investigation, so far no comparable specimen has been found. The tall, curved backrest is built from assembled solid oak segments with vertical spindles. A rounded tabletop, a lower shelf for books, and a magazine rack with a curved upper edge complete the ensemble, which rests on two shaped slide legs. Decorative and practical: beside the sofa or armchair, as a reading table, or as a focal point in the hallway. CHARACTERISTICS & CRAFTSMANSHIP • Entirely solid oak, with a beautiful, warm patina • Only on the two arches is a strip of oak veneer applied to mask the joints and the head of the assembled segments, creating a continuous grain image • The veneer sits on solid oak, not on particleboard or plywood: a hallmark of careful, labor-intensive construction • Fully stable, no play in the joints • Professional construction with thoughtful assembly and deliberate form • Two tops with rounded corners • Integrated magazine rack with curved upper edge • Visible dovetail joints and traditional wood connections • Art Deco / Amsterdam School influences SPECIFICATIONS • Material: solid oak, with oak veneer on the two arches • Period: 1920-1930 • Origin: probably the Netherlands DIMENSIONS Height: 61.5 cm Width: 39 cm Depth: 33 cm CONDITION Mechanical: good (screw and glue) joints, no play in the construction. No missing parts. Rating 9/10. Aesthetic/visual: nice patina. Minor dents and scratches. The oak veneer on the upper edges of both arches shows signs of wear, appropriate to the age. Rating 8/10. The photographs provide an accurate view of the optical condition and are an integral part of the description. Please study the photos carefully.
