Art Nouveau (1900-1910) - Silver - Sautoir and Powder Box...

Beautiful antique octagonal French chatelaine powder case (compact powder box) from the Art Nouveau period (circa 1900). This hangs from a silver sautoir of 132 cm with openwork, hollow silver beads adorned with intricate Scrollwork. These beads are typical of luxury French necklaces from the Art Nouveau and Edwardian periods. They were hand-forged and served as decorative interruptions in the long necklace. Fitted with 2 silver marks “Tête de Sanglier”. Very unique piece! Length of the sautoir is 132.0 cm. Diameter of the powder case is 4.7 cm. Weight is 33.88 grams. After decades of careful collecting I have decided to part with (a portion of) my collection. I wish these special objects to find a place with a new enthusiast who understands the value of historical preservation. It is time these pieces receive the attention they deserve, so they are preserved for the distant future as well. I will ensure extremely careful packaging and insured shipping.
