When contemporary art meets the codes of luxury The French artist Vanessa Foderà, founder of ARTOYS DESIGNER, presents an original creation standing 80 cm tall, made from a commercially available XXL Playmobil base completely transformed. With THE BIRKIN PARADOX, the artist revisits the codes of Parisian elegance and luxury through a bold composition, blending Pop Art, Street Art and contemporary sculptural techniques. Inspired by the Hermès universe, this work humorously and provocatively explores our relationship with money, desire, consumption and the symbols of success. Her central message: « MONEY CAN’T BUY HAPPINESS… BUT IT CAN BUY A BIRKIN! » An intentionally ironical expression that questions the place of luxury in our society. A true sculptural transformation The peculiarity of this work lies notably in the physical transformation of the character. The jacket, waistcoat and top hat were specially designed and custom-made by 3D resin printing. These elements are not mere surface decorations: they add new volumes to the sculpture and directly contribute to its artistic identity. The jacket, rendered in an intense blood-orange enamel, is distinguished by its structured lapels, reliefs and black contrasts. The arms reuse this same blood-orange hue and are decorated, creating a visual continuity with the jacket. The black waistcoat, also custom-made in 3D-printed resin, adds depth and elegance to the outfit. The lower part combines cream trousers with personalized brown shoes, creating a refined contrast with the dominant colors. A richness of details to discover The sculpture features numerous decorative elements and worked accessories: * Black top hat adorned with a large geometric rhinestone diamond, an iconic element of the ARTOYS DESIGNER creative universe. * Orange decorative headband with black details and a buckle bearing the letter H. * Blood-orange jacket made to measure in 3D resin printing, with customized lapels and reliefs. * Sculptural black waistcoat printed in 3D. * Matching arms in blood-orange. * Gold decorative chain with pendant evoking money and wealth. * Decorative leather-looking tag bearing Hermès Paris inscription on the lower part of the jacket. * Cream trousers with black graphic contrasts. * Brown shoes with personalized details and glossy finishes. * Graphical elements, accessories and artistic markings integrated into the whole. The combination of these materials, volumes and decorative elements gives this sculpture an immediately recognizable personality. A second graphic work on the back The rear reveals a particularly expressive Pop Art composition. On a professional-quality blood-orange background unfolds a graphic scene inspired by the luxury leather goods world, with a stylized Birkin bag surrounded by banknotes, coins and symbols related to money. The colored UV DTF elements, contrasts and graphic overlays recall the visual energy of contemporary Street Art. At the heart of this composition lies the message: « MONEY CAN’T BUY HAPPINESS… BUT IT CAN BUY A BIRKIN! » The back decor thus offers a second reading of the work, more narrative and provocative. The sophistication of the frontal silhouette contrasts with the rich graphic of the back, giving this sculpture two complementary visual identities. A creation designed to be admired from every angle. A creation process and finishing work Each step underwent individual work in Vanessa Foderà’s workshop, in France. The realization combines: * Preparation and transformation of a commercial XXL Playmobil base. * Design of sculptural pieces specially adapted to the character. * 3D resin printing of the jacket and waistcoat to measure. * Painting in blood-orange, black, cream and brown. * Working contrasts and decorative details. * Integration of applied graphic compositions. * Placement of accessories, rhinestones and relief elements. * Application of varnish and creation of glossy finishes. * Assembly and final inspection of the work. The different techniques used highlight the transformation work and the aim to go beyond the initially industrial character of the medium.
