Splendid antique desk balance scale (Roberval-type model) dating from the late 19th century (circa 1880-1900), French-made under the Force brand. A piece of great historical charm, perfect as a vintage decorative item for collectors or store window displays. The supporting frame is made of heavy black-painted cast iron, characterized by sober lines and raised lettering on the base attesting to its authenticity. The two upper plates, circular and domed, are made of solid brass, supported by the classic balance mechanism, perfectly preserved. Accompanying the scale is its original set of brass weights, elegantly housed inside a shaped solid wood storage block. Details and Conditions Brand: Force Era: Late 1800s (19th Century) Materials: Cast iron, brass, wood Condition: Excellent aesthetic and structural condition, consistent with the object's age. It bears a beautiful original patina of the time that enhances its authenticity. The oscillating mechanism is movable and functional.
