Bamboo and Horn Lime Container Second half of 20th C...

Bamboo and Horn Lime Container Batak people, Indonesia A cylindrical bamboo lime container used in betel chewing, with horn fittings at the foot and shoulder. It is topped by a stopper with an anthropomorphic horn handle carved as a stylised human head. The face has subtly defined ears, dot-like eyes, a pronounced nose and an incised mouth. The bamboo and horn surfaces have developed a rich, warm patina. A customised patinated copper and acrylic display stand is included. Our collection features authentic art objects, collectibles and from Indonesia and other Asian countries, including China, Japan, Myanmar (Burma), and Thailand. These pieces come from our family’s private collection, including treasures inherited through generations. We are now downsizing and offering these cherished objects to new owners who will appreciate them. We are private collectors, not antique dealers, and will gladly share as much information as we can about each piece and its history.
