The jade in these cufflinks from around 1960 is like a glimpse into an enchanted lake. Deep and mysterious, they draw the eye, and with every glance, a new nuance seems to reveal itself. You try to peer deep into the stone, yet you are drawn again and again to its smooth, cool surface. This is jadeite jade, the most precious variety of this material. Jade is considered the most coveted gemstone of all, especially in China. For millennia, it has been attributed special significance. It is associated with health, success, and a long life in harmony with nature; as a result, jade is often symbolically considered to be worth its weight in gold. In much of Chinese culture, a life without a piece of jade jewellery is almost unimaginable. The stone represents balance, harmony, and happiness, and is said to impart these qualities to its wearer. Reflective yellow gold settings frame the jade, giving it a clean, serene finish. This creates two identical faces, behind which the finely crafted toggle clasps are attached, ensuring a comfortable fit. These cufflinks, crafted in Germany, are in excellent condition and beautifully combine the serene aura of jade with the clean lines characteristic of their era.
