These fossils are often found in sedimentary rocks and can provide valuable insights into past environments and ecosystems. Turritella is a genus of small sea snails known for their distinctive spiral-shaped shells. These shells are often fossilized and can be found in various parts of the world. The name "turritella" comes from the Latin word "turris," meaning tower, which refers to the tall, slender shape of the shell.
