Belgian school (XIX) - Intérieur avec mère et enfant

ineteenth-century Belgian School Interior with mother and daughter Oil on panel Interesting oil on panel from a Belgian school, produced during the nineteenth century, depicting a genre scene set in a domestic interior. The composition shows a mother accompanied by a girl, gathered in the center of a humble room. The woman, dressed in a red dress and light scarf, appears occupied with a task while the little girl remains beside her. The scene is completed with various everyday elements — furniture, containers and domestic objects — that contribute to the painting’s narrative character. Particularly notable is the treatment of illumination. Light enters through the window at the back and concentrates on the figures, while much of the room remains deliberately in shadow. This strong light-dark contrast provides depth and an intimate, intimate atmosphere to the composition. Both the theme and the interior treatment recall the important tradition of Flemish and Dutch genre painting, revived with particular interest by numerous Belgian artists during the nineteenth century. The work combines the romantic taste for scenes of everyday life with references to the domestic interiors of Northern European masters from previous centuries. The painting is presented in an elaborate gilded historicist frame, partially finished in reddish tones. The frame is in poor condition, with significant losses and visible damage, and is included solely as a gift and without commercial value. Its state will not be subject to any claims. Author: anonymous. School: Belgian / Northern Europe. Era: nineteenth century, probably mid-century. Technique: oil on panel. Subject: genre scene / interior with mother and daughter. The work shows signs of age and wear compatible with its time. Careful examination of the photographs is recommended, as they are an integral part of the description and show its condition. From a European private collection. Shipping will be carried out with professional and appropriate packaging. For shipments to islands or territories subject to special customs procedures, any possible additional customs, import or handling charges will be borne by the buyer."
