Bozner Engel (7) - Vintage - Ceramic - 1960-1970 - THUN Bolzano

Set of 6 original Bozner candle holders, handmade in the late 1960s. The THUN workshop in the city of Bolzano in South Tyrol, northern Italy, was founded in 1950 by Otmar Graf von Thun und Hohenstein and Hélène Grabmeyer von Angersheim. Both had a passion for ceramics from a young age. From their first workshop in the cellar of Schloss Klebenstein, Lene Thun designed all sorts of objects, such as vases, tableware, and animal figurines. One evening she designs an angel, paints it in color and finishes it with gold details. This dreamy figure with closed eyes and a lightly bowed neck becomes an unprecedented success. Probably this is because the appearance of the Bozner Angel suggests a blessed world. Each figurine is hand-painted in warm matte tones with gilded details and belongs to the early Thun production. This collector set consists of: 1 large angel, green with gold and red, height 20 cm, base Ø 13 cm; 1 large angel, white with gold, height 20 cm, base Ø 13 cm; 1 medium angel, red with green, yellow and gold, height 16 cm, base Ø 11 cm; 1 medium angel, pink with gold, height 16 cm, base Ø 11 cm; 1 medium angel, white with pink and gold, height 16 cm, base Ø 11 cm; 1 medium angel, eggshell with lavender blue and yellow, height 16 cm, base Ø 11 cm; 1 small angel, pink with gold, height 11 cm, base Ø 7 cm. These candle holders bring (Christmas) atmosphere and coziness to every home. All figurines are in good vintage condition corresponding to their age. No chips, no cracks.
