King Hussein of Jordan (1935-1999), one of the 20th century's longest-reigning monarchs and a passionate, licensed pilot, was a devoted Breitling enthusiast. He commissioned special Breitlings bearing the golden Royal Crown of Jordan and his name in Arabic script, "Al-Hussein bin Talal", and presented them personally to trusted pilots, officers and allies. In the Arab world, gifting a watch is among the highest marks of honour, and receiving one from the King's own hand was a rare distinction. Because these royal pieces were made in tiny numbers for a chosen few, they rank among the most sought-after Breitlings for collectors today. This watch wears that heritage right on its dial, crowned with the royal emblem beneath 12 o'clock, complete with the King's name. THE WATCH Breitling "Tabarly" reference 80770N. A rare and distinctive vintage Breitling from the 1980s, developed and named together with the legendary French offshore sailor Eric Tabarly (two-time winner of the single-handed transatlantic race, 1964 and 1976). The caseback is engraved: "BREITLING - 80770N - ALL SWISS MADE - STEEL - WATER RESISTANT - DESIGNED AND TESTED WITH ERIC TABARLY".
