BRGM shipping box (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières)

Box (modified) that served as transport between Dahomey and France. A detailed description will be provided later, but for the moment, I am giving you a description of all 24 listings of objects whose provenance remains exceptional, a scientific and primitive art treasure. Discover among my 24 listings a unique historical ensemble, kept intact and preserved within my own family for over 70 years, because a former member of my family worked at the prestigious Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (the BRGM) during the 1950s. These pieces are part of a spectacular field collection. The collection is documented by its wooden transport case with colonial inscriptions BRGM Natitingou-Dahomey, the former name of present-day Benin; it is also documented by an exceptional set of 26 geological maps with explanatory notes dating from surveys conducted between 1935 and 1961. You will find among my 24 sales an exceptional King Manilla weighing over 3.8 kg. Each lot (24 in total) is a fragment of this historic geological expedition. this transport box was used for decades as storage for nearly all of the 23 previous sales. this box is an integral part of this entire collection. this box has been modified because the inscriptions are on the bottom of the box rather than the top. the inscriptions show a link to BRGM from Natitingou, Dahomey (the former name of present-day Benin). beautiful vintage condition in its original patina.
