Bronze plaque with Virgin and Child, European school, 17th-18th century

Descriptio Bronze relief. Measures 19 x 15 cm. Devotional plaque depicting the Virgin Mary seated and holding the Christ Child, flanked by small angel heads in the upper corners. The figure is rendered in a softly modeled relief with serene frontality. The composition emphasizes maternal intimacy and the sacred nature of the group through ample drapery folds, incised halos, and a smooth surface of elegant simplicity. The piece follows the tradition of small religious plaques from the 17th and 18th centuries, intended for private devotion and domestic contemplation. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
