Byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) - Silver leaf

A lovely, tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) finished with oxidized silver leaf 銀箔 (ginpaku). Over time, silver leaf naturally develops a soft patina, giving the surface a subtle and refined aged character. Framed in a vibrant crimson lacquered wooden frame. In Japan, such tranquil and even screens are often used as a backdrop for ikebana flower arrangements or to accompany other decorative or ceremonial objects. Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926). Dimensions: Total width: 360.8 cm (2 x 61.2 cm and 4 x 59.6 cm); Height: 173.6 cm. In a very good restored condition with minor signs of age-related wear to both sides. A restoration of silver leaf 5th panel. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference. This room divider is well suited for mounting flat on a wall and displaying as a single artwork. When shipped, a certificate of authenticity will be included.
