Cabinet - model cabinet - Spruce - Farmhouse cabinet Bad Tölz

Very decorative small hand-painted farmer’s cabinet or model cabinet from the Bad Tölz area, Upper Bavaria. The cabinet is presumably made of pine wood and exhibits the characteristic colorful paint of Upper Bavarian rural furniture. The dark-blue primed front is richly decorated with hand-painted floral ornaments. Particularly appealing are the two symmetrically designed door panels with flowers, leaves, and a large stylized heart each. The side surfaces, the curved top edge, and the wreath are also painted with floral and vine motifs. The small cabinet has two doors with a central wooden latch, an interior bottom, and four small feet. The inside is mostly left natural and shows the simple, hand-crafted construction. The design stylistically fits very well into the tradition of Tölzer rural furniture, where painted softwood furniture with floral ornaments and heart motifs is characteristic. Historical Tölzer cupboards with comparable decorative elements are documented as early as the early 19th century. Manufacturing period: approx. 1850–1900, estimated by style, painting, and craftsmanship. Material: presumably pine wood, colorfully toned and hand-painted. Dimensions: * Height: approx. 28.8 cm * Width: approx. 26 cm * Depth: approx. 11 cm Condition: Age- and wear-related condition with beautiful, authentic patina. The paint shows numerous age-related wear, minor losses of color, and rubbing. There are small chips along edges and corners. On the back wall, only about a quarter of the surface was later repaired/augmented with a sheet of particleboard. The majority of the back wall remains intact. The fittings and construction show clear signs of age. Overall, a very decorative and unusual small example of Upper Bavarian rural furniture or Tölzer furniture art.
