Canadian, Texas. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 624. First NB. Charter #6826. PCGS Banknote Very Good 10. Named for the Canadian River which cuts across wide swaths of rural territory in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, the city of Canadian is situated in Hemphill County to the northeast of Amarillo. Served by only a single National Bank that operated between 1903 and 2009, Canadian is a tough "one-bank town" as the First National Bank (Charter# 6826) records only six non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census including this well-circulated $10 Plain Back issued before 1924. Here the extant signatures of (Assistant) Cashier F.V. Studer and (Vice) President C.W. Allen collectively offer a fine contrast to the grade assigned and echo a degree of honest originality bound to appeal to bidders looking to represent this tough charter within their own holdings. Estimate: $1,250 - $1,750. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
