Candleholder (5) - Bronze - Putto candle holder on an ashtray

Rare complete antique (consisting of 5 parts) Putto candelabrum with original ashtray in Neo-rococo (rococo revival), belonging to historicism. Exceptionally beautiful and rare complete antique candelabrum with Putto (cherub), equipped with the original accompanying ashtray. A characteristic and richly decorated object, originating from France and dating from the late 19th century or the early 20th century. What makes this specimen special is the presence of the accompanying removable ashtray. In nearly identical pieces offered today, this component is almost always missing. This makes this candelabrum a particularly interesting and difficult-to-find, complete version. The candelabrum features a gracefully designed putto, a child figure standing on one leg in a playful pose and carrying a candle holder with his raised arm. The candle holder is adorned with floral ornaments and rests on a decorative, elaborately worked dish (candlestick wax catcher). Under the figure is the original round ashtray, equipped with three beautifully shaped, shell-like cigarette holders. This forms a harmonious whole with the other parts and emphasizes the original dual function as a candelabrum and smoking accessory. The piece is supported by a richly ornamented three-foot base, decorated with graceful leaf motifs and classical ornaments. The object is executed in cast bronze with a distinctive dark, partly greenish patina, contributing to its authentic appearance. Rare complete version with original accompanying ashtray, bearing the stamped FC mark The object is in an authentic antique state, showing wear and aging traces, including discolorations, oxidation, and natural patina formation. A particularly decorative and collectible item that stands out for its beautiful form, the FC mark, and especially the rare complete version with accompanying ashtray. An attractive collectible for lovers of antique candelabra, French decorative arts, classical putto figures, and historical smoking accessories. Catawiki expert(ise): On the underside of the base is the stamped FC mark, clearly visible in the detail photo. Virtually identical candelabra are known that also feature this FC mark. They are attributed in the international antiques trade to French production from roughly 1890–1919.
