Cartier - Panthere - Foulard

Wonderful vintage Cartier scarf, NEW IN STORE. Panthère de Cartier collection (historically linked to the maison’s archival graphic motifs). The pattern is known in vintage collecting as “Panthère en Caleidoscope” or “Panthère Spirale.” The hypnotic optical whirligig design is formed by 12 spotted panthers interwoven with one another, with four decorative mandala rosettes finely detailed at the four corners. It is made of fine pure silk twill with edges finished in a hand-rolled hem and measures in the classic 85 cm x 85 cm size. The colors are fantastic, from sky blue to bluette, from azure to blue—the fabric also shows on the lighter area (as in the photo). Period ~ 1988–1993. Unobtainable new like this. The graphic is such that it always looks straight and the panthers always gaze at the observer.
