Casket - Wood, Gilt brass

Snuff box or elongated chest, inspired by the late 19th or early 20th century. This unique piece combines wood inlay with metal decoration. Structure and Materials: The main structure of the box is made of quality wood, characterized by a rich dark tone and visible grain, which gives the object a solid and refined appearance. The elongated shape is particularly elegant and distinctive. Brass Decorations: The highlight consists of elaborate brass plates that decorate the lid and the front. These plates are enriched with detailed and intricate engravings, probably depicting floral or botanical motifs, showcasing great craftsmanship. The brass has developed a natural and fascinating patina over time, which enhances its antiquity. Details and Finishes: The lid, slightly curved, is hinged at the rear. The closure is secured by a front metal snap lock, complete with its mechanism. The box is equipped with dark metal reinforcing corner pieces, fixed with visible nails or rivets, which add a touch of sturdiness and character. Conditions: The item is in excellent condition for its age. The wood shows signs of wear consistent with time, which do not compromise its integrity but rather authenticate its antiquity. The brass is naturally oxidized but intact. Please carefully review the attached photographs for a detailed assessment of the object's condition. Use and Context: This chest would be ideal for: • Storing valuable objects, jewelry or important documents. • Enriching an antique collection, particularly of decorated boxes or ethnic/oriental style objects. • Being used as a unique decorative piece and conversational item on a desk, a bookshelf or a dresser. Note: The provided images are an integral part of the description. The object is sold "as is".
