Ceiling lamp - Murano glass - Mid-Century Chandelier

An Magnificent and exceptionally rare monumental Mid-Century Modern piece, made circa 1970. This concerns a highly sought-after architectural XL-project model, originally manufactured to order for large reception halls, theaters, or modernist villas with high ceilings. The chandelier features an impressive ceiling fixture in heavy chromed steel with a characteristic ‘tubular/candlestick’ design, with a diameter of 39 cm. The construction houses 6 light points, enclosed by polished vertical tubes. These tubes function as internal light reflectors and direct the light both upwards and downwards, maximizing the visual depth and appearance of the fixture. From this construction hang exactly 91 hand-blown Murano glass spheres, distributed over stair-stepped cascading strands that together form a spectacular cascade. The glass is made using the legendary pulegoso technique, in which thousands of minuscule, volcano-like air bubbles are enclosed in the opalescent glass. When the chandelier is lit, this creates an breathtakingly soft and diffused light effect, reminiscent of a floating mist or a star constellation. Period: End of the 1960s / early 1970s Style: Space Age / Mid-Century Modern / Hollywood Regency Materials: Chrome-plated steel and hand-blown pulegoso Murano glass Diameter of ceiling fixture: 39 cm Number of glass spheres: 91 pieces – complete set in stair-stepped cascading strands Light points: 6 fittings, suitable for modern LED lamps or classic reflector lamps Condition: The chandelier is in exceptionally good vintage condition. The chromed construction has retained its beautiful mirrored shine and shows only minimal, age-appropriate patina. All hand-blown Murano glass elements are intact, with no significant cracks or chips. A museum-worthy statement piece and a very special collectible for lovers and collectors of high-quality Italian design lighting
