Certina 17 Jewels – Manual Wind – Cal. 28-10 – 1960s – 36mm Vintage Certina hand-wound dress watch from the 1960s, reference 7004 219, featuring a silver vertically brushed dial, applied two-tone hour markers and subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock. Inside is the Certina caliber 28-10, a 17-jewel manually wound Swiss movement produced by Certina during the period. The movement is correctly signed “CERTINA 28-10 – 17 JEWELS – SWISS” and is shown in detail in the photographs. The dial has a particularly attractive and restrained 1960s design, combining a vertically brushed silver finish with faceted applied indices featuring dark central inserts. Slim dark hands and a crosshair-style subsidiary seconds register at 6 complete the classic dress-watch layout. - Brand: Certina - Reference: 7004 219 - Movement: Manual wind - Caliber: Certina 28-10 - Jewels: 17 - Case: Gold-tone / gold-plated - Caseback: Stainless steel - Diameter: Approx. 35.8 mm excluding crown - Dial: Silver, vertically brushed finish - Hour markers: Applied faceted two-tone indices - Seconds: Subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock - Crystal: Acrylic - Strap: Brown leather, aftermarket - Functions: Hours, minutes and subsidiary seconds - Case number: 8260486 - Period: Circa 1960s - Water resistance: Not tested Condition: The silver dial remains attractive and well preserved for its age, retaining its brushed finish, applied hour markers and clearly defined Certina printing. Light age-related marks and surface imperfections are visible under close inspection, particularly in the macro photographs. The gold-tone case presents well overall and retains an attractive vintage appearance. It shows scratches and areas of plating wear consistent with age and normal use, particularly around the bezel, lug edges and crown. Please refer carefully to the photographs for the exact cosmetic condition. The acrylic crystal shows visible scratches and signs of use. These could potentially be reduced by polishing or the crystal could be replaced if desired. The stainless steel caseback is signed Certina on the inside and carries reference 7004 219 and case number 8260486 externally. The Certina caliber 28-10 movement appears clean and is shown clearly in the photographs. The watch is fitted with a brown aftermarket leather strap with a gold-tone buckle. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and provide the best representation of the watch and its condition. Vintage watches should not be considered water resistant unless professionally tested and resealed. From a private collection. No original box or papers.
