CHARENTE. ANGOULÈME, January 11, 1830 – Letter from Rear Admiral Viscount de GALARD TERRAUBE on letterhead printed with “Royal Preparatory School of the Navy” (Letterhead, Naval Vignette) – 2 pages, small quarto: “Sir and Dear Former Colleague. I hope I have not been entirely forgotten.” He recommends Miss JOUET. “A clergyman from St. Roch, a former émigré, is willing to make her a few offers to establish a day school… The only obstacle to be overcome is that Mademoiselle JOUET is only 20 years old, and it is customary to require 25. Her father and mother have always distinguished themselves by their boundless devotion to the King, and left their home in Roanne to take refuge in Lyon before the memorable siege of the city.”—Note of reply on the document.
