Chess set - Schaars Staunton schaakspel (king 8.5 cm)...

This lot consists of a scarce Staunton chess set from the 1950s. Probably from England. The chess pieces are made of palmwood and have a very beautiful patina look. The king stands 8.5 cm tall The bishop 7 cm. The pawn 4 cm. They are the classic Staunton chess pieces. The chess pieces have a beautiful vintage look. The chessboard is a handmade solid wood board with inlaid parts, giving it a luxurious appearance. It measures 42 x 42 cm Square size 5 cm. Like the chess pieces, the chessboard is in excellent condition. The chess pieces can be stored in the original box. The wooden sliding box measures: 21 x 10.5 x 7 cm. The box shows signs of use. The lid slides into the box, but sits loose on top of the box. The box has two compartments. This chess set is a beautiful item to display as a decorative centerpiece in an old classic space. Of course it is primarily intended to be used. A wonderful set which will be well packaged and safely shipped.
