CHINA 1939 (Dec 5) first flight cover inscribed 'Chungking to Hami' (interestingly, 'Rangoon' has been crossed out and replaced with 'Hami'), with attractive 53c franking, tied commem 'Chungking 5 12 1939' cancel, violet 'Hami' cachet on reverse (a little soiling). A very scarce cover, the flight being the first attempt to re-start the airmail service via the North West through Sinkiang and Siberia, to Europe (which closed down shortly after).
