China Foreign Post Office Russian Post Office 1903 (29 May) printed envelope from J.Gaillard featuring a champagne cork on the front, to Marseille "Via Siberia" bearing, on the reverse, Kitai 1k. and 10k. tied by fair strikes of the Shanghai type 1 c.d.s. in black with the arrival c.d.s. (25.6) alongside, there is a further despatch c.d.s. on the address side. The extra 1k is thought to be the transit charge from Shanghai to Part Arthur, rare use, less than ten covers known.
