Glistening "Old Kiangnan" Dollar with Herringbone Edge Reeding CHINA. Kiangnan. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), ND (1897). Nanking Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Edge Repaired, Unc Details. L&M-210A; K-66D; KM-Y-145.1; WS-0787. Variety with unconnected (1 stroke) "sheng", ornamented (herringbone) edge, and unbarred A's in "KIANGNAN". A RARE and desirable early issue for a province that no longer existed, this exceptional specimen does display some noted cleaning, but otherwise remains enchantingly without any real signs of wear or time spent in circulation. Opulently lustrous and cartwheeling, with some hints of golden toning at the very extremes of the peripheries. For even more character, an extensive die crack is observed running through a portion of the English legend. Estimate: $40,000 - $60,000. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
