L&M-81; K-680; KM-Y-336; WS-0114; Chang-CH241; Wenchao-885 (rarity: ★★). Small characters variety. Sporting exceptional vibrance among the fields and a very sharp strike, this lightly cleaned specimen is otherwise without any evidence of wear or circulation. Some very subtle toning is beginning to take hold, further accentuating the devices, and making this example a great representative of the type for the collector long seeking one. Differing from the large characters variety not just in the overall size of the two on the reverse, it should be noted that this variety also features a different stroke near the base of the 壹 than is generally encountered within the Republican series.
