CHINA. Szechuan. Aluminum 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents) Pattern, ND (1898).

Previously Unseen Szechuanese Pattern in Aluminum CHINA. Szechuan. Aluminum 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents) Pattern, ND (1898). New Jersey (Ferracute) Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Scrape, AU Details. cf. L&M-350 (for regular issue in silver); cf. K-148Y (for pattern in brass); cf. KM-Y-Pn9/Pn18 (for pattern in brass; cf. WS-0745 (for regular issue in silver). Part of a series of American-made pattern issues for Szechuan, with all previous types seen by this cataloger in brass. While the brass examples are seen with some degree of frequency across the denominations, any struck in aluminum, as is the case here, must be considered EXTREMELY RARE and important. As such, the scattered marks upon the characters side may be largely discounted given the excessive difficulty one would have in encountering another such example. Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
