Chinese messing theeketel – achthoekige elegantie met bloemdecor

Chinese brass teapot – octagonal elegance with floral decoration, probably circa 1890–1920 A characterful object in which clean lines and graceful details reinforce each other! This Chinese brass teapot combines an octagonal body with a striking carrying handle and finely engraved decorations. The warm gold tone and the patinated surface give it a distinctive appearance. The flat side panels are adorned with flowers, leaves and fruits within gracefully shaped cartouches. Horizontal profile edges emphasize the geometric construction. A short, angular spout forms a beautiful contrast with the undulating top handle, which features a central notch. The top also deserves attention. Here a stylized shou character appears to be depicted, surrounded by bat-like motifs. In Chinese decorative art, shou stands for longevity, while bats symbolize luck and blessings. This gives the ornamentation a meaning beyond mere beauty.
