Collection of over thirty-five early to mid-20th century maritime ephemera from the Hamburg South America Line (Hamburg-Sudamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft) and the Hamburg-America Line (HAPAG). The group includes postcards, luggage tags, and an event program documenting travel between Germany and South America. Notable pieces include a postcard of the steamer Cap Trafalgar commemorating its first voyage from Buenos Aires on April 3, 1914, and a postcard of the Schnelldampfer Cap Arcona with a shipboard postmark dated 20. IV. 29. A third postcard is marked Por V. CAP ORTEGAL with handwritten German text and postal markings. Luggage labels comprise a green rectangular tag for A. M. DELFINO and CIA. - BUENOS AIRES marked Deposito de equipaje, and an oval yellow and black tag printed HAMBURG-SUDAMERIKANISCHE DAMPFSCHIFFFAHRTS-GESELLSCHAFT with a large numeral 1 for the luggage room. Also included is a decorative program titled Glocken-Abend / NIGHT OF THE CHIMES for the HAPAG steamer ALBERT BALLIN dated Wednesday, July 17, 1935. Various postal markings and handwritten messages in German, English and Spanish are present.
