14K Gold Brutalist Cufflinks – Willi Neff (Pforzheim, Germany, circa 1970) – Single-Owner Collection (GIA Gemologist Provenance) Description: • Manufacturer / Workshop: Willi Neff (Pforzheim, Germany). Official master jeweler’s mark with the initial "N" inscribed in an oval cartouche. • Gold Purity: 14-karat solid yellow gold, with the German standard assay punch "585". • Net Weight: 9.9 grams per pair. • Era / Style: Early 1970s – Modernist / Brutalist Movement. • Design and Manufacturing: An excellent exemplar of mid-century German jewelry avant-garde. The front face features an intricate organic texture created by flame that emulates natural mineral formations. The back showcases a meticulous geometric lattice cut-out to lighten the piece, paired with a flat, high-fidelity hinged arm. • Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The relief remains intact and the rear mechanisms operate perfectly. Historical Provenance: This piece comes directly from the private collection of Francisco "Frank" Payá, a distinguished international luxury executive and GIA-certified gemologist (1983). Mr. Payá served as manager of Joyerías Mercurio (Panama) in the 1960s, worked in the Pforzheim manufacturing sector (Germany) in the early 1970s—the exact period in which he acquired these cufflinks at the author’s workshop—and later held senior executive positions at H. Stern on Fifth Avenue in New York and as international expansion director at Carrera y Carrera.
