Alla auktioner / Konst & Grafik / Curhotel Termas Marinas Benicàssim - NO RESEVE - Poster originale - 1990s
** RESERVE PRICE €20 ** Dateable approximately to 1996 / mid-1990s, the poster is particularly interesting for its deliberate choice to recover the graphic language of the great European tourism posters from the 1920s-1940s. So it is not a later reproduction of an ancient poster, but an authentic period advertisement for Curhotel Termas Marinas, created by consciously adopting a retro Art Deco-inspired style. The composition depicts an elegant female figure in a red swimsuit looking out over the Mediterranean, surrounded by vegetation and set within a decorative geometric frame. The image immediately evokes the golden era of Mediterranean travel graphic design, while advertising the contemporary thalassotherapy center in Benicàssim. Particularly interesting for dating purposes is the print address at the bottom: Tel. 9-64 / 30 02 50 – Fax 30 22 36 The numbers correspond to the Spanish telephone system prior to the 1998 reform, when the national prefix “9” and the provincial code “64” of Castellón were still shown separately. After the 1998 reform the same contact details became 964 300 250. This detail constitutes an interesting dating element and is fully compatible with attributing the poster to circa 1996. The Curhotel Termas Marinas was founded in Benicàssim in 1970 as a facility specialized in thalassotherapy and health tourism and continues to operate today as Termas Marinas El Palasiet. Characteristics Client: Curhotel Termas Marinas Location: Benicàssim, Castellón, Spain Subject: thalassotherapy / Mediterranean tourism Dating: circa 1996 / mid-1990s Style: Art Deco / revival of vintage tourist poster Type: original poster from the period Language: Spanish Dimensions: 70 × 42 cm Color print on paper Not a modern reproduction of an antique poster Conditions Overall condition: A- The poster is in very good condition, with intense and bright colors and a generally clean printed surface. The verso is clean and shows the natural patina consistent with the poster’s age. The photographs are an integral part of the description and accurately document the conservation state.
