► “Fractured Presence” – Original painting Original hand-made painting by Daniel Witschkanow, 2026 Description “Fractured Presence” shows an expressive face that forms from dense black lines, droplets and gestural densifications. Despite strong abstraction, the human presence remains immediately perceptible: the gaze feels intense, vulnerable and at the same time demanding. Exactly this tension between dissolution and clarity gives the work its special expressiveness. The composition thrives on the interaction between deep-black linear densifications and the calmer, gray-white glazed background. This creates a striking contrast that makes the face appear almost to emerge from an inner fog. The lines seem not only to describe form but to make emotional states visible – raw, nervous, direct and lively. From a distance the work reads as a powerful statement piece with strong presence, while up close a multifaceted network of finest threads, overlays and traces reveals itself. About the painting At the center of the painting is the human visage as bearer of inner tension. The face does not appear smooth or closed, but as a state between visibility and disintegration. This allows fine, long and dynamic lines to be generated, which condense, cross and form into figurative structures. The color is guided with brush, hand and controlled movement, dragged and whipped. This results in delicate linear traces as well as strong black densifications from which the facial form gradually develops. This visual language is complemented by glaze, painterly gray-white areas in the background, giving the work additional depth and an atmospheric calm. A essential component of this technique is controlled randomness. Each line responds to movement, distance and material flow and cannot be identically repeated. This gives the work its unmistakable structure and keeps it a fully handmade unique piece with its own artistic handwriting.
