The China Collection was created by Daum from 2006 as part of collaborations with major French collections of Asian art. The Daum catalog describes the model as inspired by a Liao-era stoneware lion kept at the Guimet Museum. The piece is made using the lost-wax crystal-paste technique, characteristic of Daum. The material shows rich hues ranging from deep reddish-brown to amber-orange and translucent yellow. Color variations and small internal bubbles are characteristic of this artisanal technique. Provenance: purchased directly from the Daum boutique in Nancy in 2022. Delivered with: • Original Daum certificate of authenticity; • Daum box and original protective packing; • presentation plaque “Le Lion ambre – 388 ex”; • Daum documentation visible in the photographs. Dimensions: 26/13 cm. Condition: very good. No chips, cracks, or restorations. The detailed photographs are an integral part of the description. Due to the artisanal crystal-paste technique, each piece shows its own variations in transparency, color and bubbling.
