Very rare first edition of this heroic-comic and satirical poem published anonymously but attributed to the French satirical poet Balthazar de Bonnecorse (1632–1706). The work unfolds as a lively and biting verse satire on the hypocrisies and literary and social mores of its time, structured in thirteen discourses and ten cantos. Exemplar with leaves in overall good condition, with the usual signs of use and time including slight foxing, browning and period ink annotations on the front flyleaf. Contemporary full leather binding with title and rich gilding on the spine with slight wear and losses, but well preserved overall. Endpapers present.
