Decorative ornament - Artisanal - 60 cm - Puerto Rico - Sailboat

This attractive handcrafted wooden model of a sailing ship, made of wood and metal during the second half of the twentieth century, offers a evocative interpretation of the great sailing vessels that plied the oceans between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Conceived as a decorative piece, it blends the charm of manual craftsmanship with an aesthetic inspired by historic exploration and trade ships. The work features a stylized hull with a pronounced bow and raised stern, executed with an expressive texture that emphasizes its artisanal character. Above it rises a complex rigging comprised of several masts, spars, and shrouds fashioned from delicate metal elements, recreating in notable detail the structure of the great period ships. The sails, carefully shaped and deployed, suggest the movement of the wind and add dynamism to the composition. The dark-toned finish with golden and copper highlights enhances each constructive element, creating deep plays of light and shadow that emphasize the richness of textures. The banners on the masts and the intricate network of rigging contribute to reinforcing the visual authenticity of the ensemble, evoking the legendary tall ships that starred in history’s great maritime routes. Mounted on a solid wooden base that facilitates display, this sailing ship possesses a strong sculptural presence that makes it a piece capable of standing out in offices, libraries, living rooms, or nautical-themed decorated spaces.
