The will to create a completely new form of art appreciation was one of the most important motivations of the artists of Art Nouveau. This piece of jewellery from the first years of the 20th century also breathes this spirit. It presents itself as an elegant composition of a sweeping line ornament that seems to form an elongated leaf. In its centre are three feathered leaves which seem to grow out of the framing line. As if drawn with a pen, the design with its flowing lines is reminiscent of fine calligraphy, but also reveals natural floral forms. The artfully intertwined ornament is richly set with a total of 41 sparkling diamonds. They bathe the piece with its platinum surface in glistening light. The highlight of the composition is a particularly beautiful stone weighing approximately 0.60 carats. With its slightly angular cushion shape, it indicates that it was cut in the early 19th century and is being reused here - a common procedure for many antique pieces of jewellery. The enchanting brooch combines many elements so typical of turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau: We see wonderfully rhythmic lines, playful asymmetry and stylized natural forms. The piece was made around 1905 and we were able to purchase it in Nuremberg. Immediately wearable, the brooch is still a real feast for the eyes today.
