Djoka Ivackovic (1930-2012) - 1.IX.88

Djoka Ivackovic (1930–2012) 18.IX.88, 1988 Wax pastel on wove paper Signed in pencil lower left and dated lower right Sheet size: 39 × 39 cm A refined work on paper by Djoka Ivackovic, a Serbian-born artist who settled in Paris in the early 1960s and became associated with post-war lyrical abstraction. This 1988 composition combines spontaneous gesture, delicate linear movement and a strong sense of spatial balance. The wax pastel gives the work a direct, tactile quality, characteristic of Ivackovic’s mature works on paper. Ivackovic’s work is held in major public and institutional collections, including the Centre Pompidou – Musée national d’art moderne, Paris, Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade, National Museum Belgrade, and UNESCO, Paris. A strong and elegant example of the artist’s mature abstract language.
