Door lock - crocodile - Dogon - Mali

Lock Mali Dogon Culture Wood H.39cm / W.37cm Ancient Dogon door lock from Mali. The patina is rich and deep. The accumulated materials have oxidized and cracked. It is an object that has served for decades; the patina and the wear of the wood attest to that. The form is powerful and dynamic. The stylized crocodile head is well executed. A primal, ancient, and powerful force emanates from this work. A beautiful old and authentic piece for a collection. Circa 1930. Provenance: Pierre Robin, Paris.
