Double Strand Hand Cut Coral Necklace With Modern Clasp, c. 1900

The coral has been considered a good luck charm since ancient times. In the years around 1900, the beautiful salmon corals in this necklace were hand-cut and carefully selected. The beads are strung in graduated order and only small traces of growth distinguish the preciousness as a natural material. The coral beads are uniform in colour, a vibrant salmon red. The necklace is made wearable by an unobtrusive clasp made of silver, which has been added to the necklace in recent times. The necklace has been restrung by us and is in very good condition.
