Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss – an icon from the golden Ducati superbike era Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss – limited to only 400 units worldwide For sale is a very special Ducati from the golden era of Italian superbike construction: the Ducati 998S Troy Bayliss, a limited special edition of which only 400 units were produced worldwide. This Ducati is not just a 998S – it is a piece of Ducati racing history. The story behind it The early 2000s were a very special time for Ducati. The legendary 916/996 series was evolved with the 998 and received the technically advanced Testastretta V2 engine. At the same time, Ducati enjoyed great success in the Superbike World Championship. At the center of this era stood a name: Troy Bayliss. The Australian won the Superbike World Championship on a Ducati in 2001, becoming one of the defining figures in Ducati racing history. Ducati took this success as an opportunity to bring a very special street tribute: the 998S Troy Bayliss Replica. (Ducati) Only 400 of this special edition were built, each vehicle bearing its own number on the numbered plaque. Thus, the Bayliss 998S belongs to the very rare and coveted special models of the 998 family. (Gallery Aaldering) Engineering from racing DNA The base is the already exceptional 998S with its 998cc Testastretta V2. However, the Bayliss version was made even more exclusive. This includes, among other things: • 998 cm³ Testastretta V2 • approx. 136 HP • Dry clutch • Sand-cast engine casing • Fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock • Öhlins fork with TiN-coated stanchions • Öhlins steering damper • High-quality Brembo four-piston braking system • Marchesini light alloy wheels • Numerous carbon components • Special Troy Bayliss livery • Numbered limited-edition plaque • Certificate of special edition Thus, the Bayliss was not only a visual homage to the superbike but also technically much closer to racing DNA than a standard 998. (2ri) A piece of Ducati’s time history What makes this Ducati special is the combination of design, technology, racing history, and extreme limitation. The 998 is already regarded as one of the last great Ducati superbikes from the era shaped by Massimo Tamburini. The Troy Bayliss Edition fuses that legendary design language with the name of a world champion, turning it into a motorcycle with its own unique story. Only 400 units worldwide. Not an ordinary 998S. Not a retrofit replica. Factory special model – as a homage to Troy Bayliss and his world championship title. A Ducati for enthusiasts, collectors and for all who understand what these motorcycles mean for Ducati’s history. The 998S Troy Bayliss is one of those bikes where you don’t just ride a motorcycle – you ride a piece of Ducati history. Our vehicle has passed the new TÜV with no defects.
