Pérez Lezcano makes the proximity of two figures a relationship of forms and chromatic tensions. The faces, one frontal and one in profile, share a space where their contours touch and seem to prolong into one another. This coexistence of perspectives places the work in a cubist language that preserves the expressiveness of the gesture and the human presence. Carmine articulates the composition: it traverses the center of the canvas, envelops the profile figure, and creates a counterpoint with the blues and turquoises. The light areas of the faces offer pauses between the blacks that delimit the shapes, while the visible brushwork provides a vibrant surface, away from geometric rigidity. The intimacy of the scene lies in its ambiguity. The figures remain close, though their gazes do not meet; the bond is built through color, overlapping, and the rhythm of the curves. Lezcano leaves the nature of that encounter open and concentrates its force on a closeness that seems to contain both complicity and reserve.
