ANTONY ARMSTRONG-JONES, EARL OF SNOWDON (1930-2017) A GROUP OF FIVE 'PRINCE OF WALES INVESTITURE' CHAIRS, 1969 Red-painted ash-laminate, with motto 'Ich Dien' and Prince of Wales feathers in gilt, and original red fabric covered seats Manufactured by Remploy Ltd. One chair with full titled plaque and numbered 470/4000. Each; 78cm high, 54cm wide, 56cm deep The Investiture of the Prince of Wales took place at Caernarfon Castle, North Wales, on the 1st July 1969. Designed by the Earl of Snowdon with Carl Toms and John Pound, the chairs were produced by Remploy, a scheme supporting employment for disabled workers, and sold to guests after the ceremony for £12 each.
