Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005) - APPEL-CALDER

Eduardo Paolozzi (1924–2005). "APPEL-CALDER BERLIN MAY 1975". Screenprint from 1975. Hand-signed and numbered (AP) by the Italian-British artist. Size: 100 x 70 cm. Screenprint printed at Grafikwerkstatt Hans Kähler, Hamburg. Published by Griffelkunst Vereinigung, Hamburg, in an edition of 500. Catalogue raisonné: Miles 188 / Griffelkunst Edition F100. Screenprint in good condition. There is a damp stain at the base, visible on the reverse of the print. The print itself is clean and in excellent condition. A fine example. Please see the photographs, which form part of the description of the work. This piece pays direct homage to two of the most important figures in 20th-century abstract and avant-garde art, whose aesthetics Paolozzi intertwines in his own pop and geometric style: the Dutch painter Karel Appel (co-founder of the CoBrA movement) and the American sculptor Alexander Calder (pioneer of kinetic sculpture). Paolozzi was one of the pioneers and founders of British Pop Art. He was the first to introduce elements of American mass culture and advertising into modern art. He co-founded the Independent Group in London during the 1950s, a collective that challenged the boundaries of traditional art by merging technology, mass consumption, and popular culture. He is one of the giants of contemporary art. Professional packaging with all security measures. Fast shipping with UPS, CORREOS or SEUR (mainly with these companies) and with a permanent tracking number.
