Elastolin - Figure - Seltene Original Elastolin / Lineol...

Rare original Elastolin / Lineol - German Music Corps - WWII etc. (see pictures) 14 x soldiers etc. / rare figures Elastolin: mass figures were already produced around 1880 in Austria by the Vienna-based company Emil Pfeiffer, which became world-famous for the “loving and colorful painting” of its figures. Around 1900 production began in Germany. Similar to tin figures, it covered an enormous range of themes, but primarily consisted of military toys. Accessories such as vehicles were usually made of tin plate, sometimes there were mixed forms, for example tin wagons with crews and horses made of mass. Since other manufacturers mostly stuck to Hausser’s size standards, the products were often intermixable. As many manufacturers did not specialize only in military toys but also depicted organizations and leadership personnel of the NS regime in their figures, after World War II a resumption of production in all Allied-occupied zones of Germany was difficult. Lineol until 1945 The Lineol Aktiengesellschaft was founded in 1906 by Oskar Wilhelm Wiederholz in Brandenburg an der Havel. Since 1903 he developed the mass needed, which, in contrast to the mass used by competitor Elastolin, also contains linseed oil and tree resin. Co-responsible for Lineol’s success was the Berlin artist Albert Caasmann, who designed the molded figures from wax since 1909. He became the chief model maker under Wiederholz in 1919 and was head of figure manufacturing until 1952. In the 1930s, LINEOL AG employed 300 to 400 workers. A high level of detail in the figures was responsible for the rapid success of the figures. The animals from the Berlin Zoo served as models for the wildlife figures. Two famous examples from the animal figure production are the hippopotamus Knautschke and the gorilla “Bobby,” which Albert Caasmann immortalized in miniature. In addition to mass figures, Lineol produced high-quality tin toys. The figures were available in different scales or sizes (from 17 cm to 4 cm), with the figure size of 7.5 cm becoming established over the years. Lineol’s mass figures are easily distinguished from Hausser’s figures (Elastolin) by a rectangular base. Very nice collection of detailed figures. A must for every collector.
