Elegant celadon bowl from Longquan, China. - Ceramic - China - Yuan-Ming

Elegant celadon-glazed stoneware bowl from Longquan, China This rare and authentic stoneware bowl is a fine example of the famous production from the Longquan kilns, in Zhejiang Province, China. These pieces were highly prized for their thick and rich glaze, which imitates the smooth color and texture of jade. Dimensions: approximately 19 cm in diameter and 4 cm high. Description: The bowl features a flared shape with a slightly inward rim and a small unglazed annular foot with a clay color that collectors jargon calls “iron foot” — a foot color more commonly seen in the Southern Song official kilns or in Junyao kiln porcelains. This piece remains a typical exception among productions of its era due to the color of its clay. The celadon glaze is a deep, olive-gray-green, uniform in tone. Wear visible at the center of the basin and along the rim bears witness to long use and the venerable age of the object. Condition: Generally good condition considering its age, with signs of wear, slight firing imperfections, and a fine crack (fissure) stabilized along the right edge, visible in the photographs. Provenance: This Longquan celadon stoneware dish comes from a European private collection, assembled with discernment. The piece was acquired on the international market for Asian art from specialist sources, and has been kept since its purchase within a framework of rigorous selection in my collection of Chinese cult artifacts; unfortunately, no documented older provenance was transmitted before its entry into my collection. A fascinating collectible for enthusiasts and professionals of ancient Asian art and historical ceramics.
