Jewellery from the 1960s and 1970s reflects the optimism and belief in progress of this era. After the organic shapes of the 1950s, the decade marked by the race to the moon saw a renaissance in the love of geometry. Rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings shone predominantly in white, a color reminiscent of twinkling stars, often combined with deep blue, reminiscent of the night sky. In addition to sapphires, other colored stones in bright primary colours were occasionally found, but it is above all the cool sparkle of diamonds and sapphires in combination with luxurious white gold that characterizes the unmistakable charm of these pieces of jewellery. The settings of this period increasingly moved away from the solid, shiny yellow gold of late Art Deco and were transformed into filigree constructions made of white gold rods. The fine structures were reminiscent of the antennae of Sputnik, the technological aesthetics of space travel or the airy scaffolding of modern skyscrapers. It was not without reason that a brooch with the name "Cosmos" was named Jewel of the Year in 1967. This magnificent ring embodies the style of that era in an impressive way and has lost none of its modernity to this day. The ring face reinterprets the classic entourage ring: a deep blue sapphire in the center is framed by sparkling brilliant- and baguette-cut diamonds. High-carat white gold bars reflect the light and lend the piece a futuristic elegance. The ring is in excellent condition. The specially designed ring band ensures optimal wearing comfort and prevents the ring from twisting unintentionally on the finger.
