An English armchair of the 19th century, executed in the Chippendale style with a carved hardwood frame and shaped arms. Raised on carved cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet, the chair is upholstered in floral needlepoint tapestry depicting scrolling foliage and polychrome blossoms on a beige ground. A representative example of the continued influence of the Chippendale aesthetic in English furniture production during the Victorian period.
