The silhouette in the background with its distinctive church spires strongly recalls the Hamburg cityscape with its characteristic copper roofs and church towers (such as St. Nikolai, St. Katharinen, or St. Michaelis). In the front left there is a typical North German lighter or cargo ship with brown rigging, as was common on the Unterelbe and in the Hamburg harbor.
