Title: Still Life with Trompe-l'oeil School: European Hyperrealism (20th century) Style: Hyperrealism / Contemporary Realism with trompe-l'oeil devices Technique: Oil on canvas Circle and artistic influence: Work linked to the European hyperrealist tradition of the second half of the 20th century, with an evident revival of trompe-l'œil or trompe-l'œil. The precision in the representation of fruits, flowers and surfaces, as well as the play between different pictorial planes, refer both to the historical tradition of the European still life and to contemporary currents interested in questioning perception between image, object and reality. A singular hyperrealist composition that combines the traditional genre of the still life with an elaborate visual game of trompe-l'œil. In the lower area there is a set of white flowers, fruits and small berries, among which a yellow pear and an apple stand out, accompanied by dark spherical elements that introduce chromatic and volumetric contrast. The composition stands out for the meticulous technical rendering of the different textures, especially the delicate white petals, the shiny surfaces of the fruits and the gray and earthy backgrounds. In the upper right corner there is represented a second image within the painting itself: a minimalist winter landscape dominated by a bare tree. This resource generates a deliberate superposition of planes and constitutes the main trompe-l'œil element of the work, creating the impression of an independent image placed on the surface of the painting. The geometric treatment of the background, the chromatic sobriety and the precise lighting contrast with the organic elements of the still life, giving the composition a contemporary, quiet, and strongly conceptual aesthetic. The work is presented framed with a frame of notable presence, composed of black moldings combined with gold profiles. Its stepped and classical design creates depth around the painting and establishes an elegant contrast with the contemporary aesthetic of the composition. Observations The work shows signs typical of its age and conservation. The frame may show slight signs of use, rubbing or small losses due to the passage of time.
